7/28 - Discharge about 7/30

Chelsey's been pretty stable the last few days in a mostly grounded, partly delusional state. The social worker originally said that we'd need to take her home yesterday (Friday) or pay the cost of any added days. However, the doctor smoothed that over and extended the stay until at least Monday after talking with Beth about worrisome remaining symptoms. They upped Chelsey's dosage.

She seemed unimproved in our visit today, but her hands were trembling a little ( a common side effect). Since the risk of side effects is higher and the symptoms haven't improved, we'll probably advocate returning to the lower dosage.

We would still be unable to handle her in her current state, so the scramble for a group home or respite care continues. The DDA case manager said on Friday that a discharge would typically require first holding a discharge planning meeting (that includes their rep) so that the appropriate level of step-down care can be approved. In the meantime, the case manager and an agency service provider are actively trying to find a group home. We expect the planning meeting and possibly the discharge on Monday, but we don't know if she'll be coming home to us or going to a group home.
