7/14 - More fragmented thoughts

We're frustrated to see rapid regression back into her alternate reality after we saw a glimpse of two coherent days earlier this week. Today, she still thinks movie characters are real, and she has a hard time sticking with a coherent line of thought. Chelsey says her brain's making lots of connections between seemingly unrelated things. She says she likes it, but she wouldn't mind trying to tone it down to do what others want and get home.

Here's one chain of thought we pursued after asking why she had taken another shower with her clothes on.
  • Showering with clothes helps her "create an image" of being more attractive to Sam Flynn (movie character).
  • It's like people wearing suits to portray themselves as super smart.
  • It's like Sam or a woman feeling humiliated and embarrassed that they can't lift something heavier than a pencil.
  • It's also kind of like in the holocaust death camps, when men and women were separated. Hitler was bad but may have been misunderstood. He at least wanted to create a happy place for everybody, even though it didn't work out.
Crystal clear, right? If we ask lots of questions, we can sometimes make tenuous connections between ideas and string her sentences together in ways that sort of make sense. Mostly we're just confused. She can't explain connections that seem obvious to her. She can't remember stuff from one conversation to the next.

We expected either no immediate progress or gradual progress right after a new med was added. It seems odd that she had an isolated two days of coherence right away, followed by this step backward. We didn't get to talk with the doc, but it seems unlikely that she'll come home early next week. Wait and see.
