The judge approved keeping Chelsey in the hospital, and we agreed that that's best for her. She was cheerful, chatty, and full of stories today, but she still had delusions, disordered thoughts, and hints of suicidal thoughts. Today she thought she was the Jesus of this generation, and water through clothing could help purify her to be one with her spirit. The judge's order is good for one week. She may get out earlier than that, or we may have another hearing next Wednesday.
We had to be there for the hearing by 9am, but our turn came last at just before 1pm. It took all of 10 minutes, and we didn't even get to be in the room. Most of the other hearings involved some time with just the patient, doctor and attorneys, followed by information from the parents/family. Most of the other hearings lasted 30-60 minutes. Chelsey's was apparently so straightforward that they didn't need much discussion, and they didn't need us.
It was a boring, time-consuming process, but it wasn't stressful. The worst part was the daughter of another patient who went second to last. She was nice as could be and had tons of colorful stories, but she talked incessantly for almost four hours. I thought I'd go nuts. Still, it was nice to be with a range of people in the waiting room who were coping with similar challenges.
Thank you for your updates...hope you continue to see progress in Chelsey. I was glad to hear about Jaime's phone call with her on her blog. :)
